James, Check all your fuses with a test light. You will probably find one that is blown. This allows current to backfeed through the dome light circuit. good luck! I need to find a short somewhere in my 76 NYB. Here's a list of its new habits:
1. When the brake pedal is pushed the dome light comes on 2. If the trunk or vanity mirror is opened, the dome light comes on 3. If the trunk is opened, the little green light on the steering column will come on when the trunk is closed and turn off after its appropriate amount of time 4. If the trunk light is removed (I didn't have a replacement) the dome light does not come on when the trunk is opened, but still comes on when the brake pedal is pushed.
I tried Brad's suggestion for changing all the tail lights, and that didn't help. This seems to have occured after I was playing around in the dash taking the stereo in and out. If there are any suggestions, they're greatly appreciated!
James
