Stan: Old Imperial models

i already had one of each of the imperials when in 1968 the local hobby shop decided to put out for sale all the amts sitting in the back room unsold....they put about 75 out on the table for 50 cents each....i bought all i could afford...starting with the 58 yearlys i bought all of the oldest until my bucks ran out getting in to the 67s...i ended up with at least 35 of them from 58 to 67...and still have them all on the shelf...i had stopped building out of the box in 67 at the age of 18 when i realized i could rebuild my bad ones and all of my friends throwaways...(i still have the 160 builts i did up to then....won a few awards too...remember the revell model contest...bronze arched trophy with custom corvette style car top?? i got one for best paint.)  i had gotten a aqua 58 edsel promo ...given to me from the test drive of a edsel i decided to customize for the contest.....ended up with a meteor grill and a HOOD I BENT FROM THE 62 REVELL IMPERIAL to fit  cut open the trunk and uner the hood i put a 59 tbird chassis and engine...didnt win on that but 20 yrs later i found all the parts i took off and rebuilt the edsel...(still have the mint box and left over imp parts though....) another thing i did after 63 was collect the empty boxes....when i would build...i would carefully snap the corners of the lid and made a stack...still have that too...over 250 of mint kits from the 50s/60s...anybody want a copy box  or a refrigerator magnet box miniature of your favorite...???   its easy for me....anyway ...in the group from the hobby store... i got  a 58 edsel...58 ponticac...5  59 imps hdtp/conv....and at least two of everything else 60 on up.....stan lemkuil

Stan, If you have any 1959 Imperial models please let me know, I would be very interested in one, since I probably had about ten of these back in 1959, but who knows what happened to them? Most likely lost in moves from one house to another. I can't remember destroying any of them, like I used to do to with my old airliner models, I used to like to see the thick black smoke coming from the burning plastic. Yes, I was a weird child, but I loved my Imperials, and would love to reconstruct one today. Whenever I go to hobby shops I always check the shelves to see if they started making them again. They are getting close, the other day I saw a '57 Chrysler 300m, and a '57 Plymouth Fury as new releases. let me know if you have the '59 Imperial, either convertible or hardtop. I would be very interested, and would rather buy direct, than dealing on eBay where most of the friction models are all warped out of shape. You can contact me off the list at Imperial59cro wn@xxxxxxxx Please put 1959 Imperial in the subject line, so I don't accidentally delete it. Thanks, Bill '59 Crown
