Hello Gang; It's just my opinion of course but I happen to think that the original decklids look better on a 62' Imperial. If you look at the lines and trim at the rear of the car you can that there is a design theme going on that makes the,"Toilet Seat", look out of place. My thinking is that if you add an option to a car with which it was not originally equipped, but was available that in year, I don't have a problem with that. However if you are adding an option to a car that could never have come with that option in the first place you are treading a thin line between restoration and customisation. I have always thought thought that if you want a car with the given options of a given year then you should find a car from that year. Don't get me wrong, I like the look of a flitesweep decklid but I probably wouldn't go out of my way to add one if the car came without. The same goes with the swivel seats. If the car came with them I wouldn't mind, but if it didn't come with them I wouldn't mind either. I notice that no one suggests adding the Flite Sweep deck lid to a 64' or 65' Imperial. One reason is that that it won't physically fit, but that can be dealt with by a good bodyman. The other reason is that it doesn't suit the styling of the car along with wide white wall tires . My thinking is that the 62' is almost the same story, besides they fill up with water and drain into the trunk when you lift the lid.
