Hi Dick, Our 1970 Chrysler 300 Convertible has points and not electronic
ignition which I wish it had. It is a California car and was sold 1-13-70 by the
Chrysler Dealer in Albany, CA. It has the Fuel Tank (E.C.S.)Evaporation Control
System. We bought it from the original owner July 3, 1986 at Lafayette, CA..
seems that it should have had the electronic ignition. Thanks for the information below John Chesnutt, Portland, OR 1970 300 Convertible, 1970 Imperial LeBaron 2 Dr HT,
1971 Chrysler New Yorker 4 DR HT and two 1965 Imperial Crown Coupes. From: mailing-list-owner@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
[mailto:mailing-list-owner@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of DickB@xxxxxxxxx You guys are embarrassing me – I’ve been very quiet
the last few months – so it isn’t like I’m in there pitching
every day! There was one thing I thought might have been of interest –
it was regarding the points/vs electronic ignition discussion. I posted
the following (or tried to - twice) about 2 weeks ago – so here it is
again, to test whether or not you can hear me! I sent this in before, but it did not come through for some
reason. No one is "wrong" on this - it depends on where the car
was sold originally. Starting in model year 1969, Chrysler Corp provided electronic
ignition on cars sold in "clean air program" areas - which includes
many areas of California. Our company cars were Chryslers in 1969, and
since we were in Los Angeles (smog capital of the world in the late 60s) the
cars were equipped with it. It may have been an option in other areas - I don't
know. We had an office on Imperial Boulevard - (mandatory Imperial
content). Dick Benjamin Dick Benjamin |
