Car ran fine and has what I thought to be a newer coil. Picked the car up from the tire place and it's engine is missing significantly, and the battery was dead at pickup time. Newer battery, so that's not a suspected part of the dead charge problem. With engine off, but key to "run" position, the coil is making a snapping, buzzing sound internally. Closer inspection shows that coil is discharging volts and zaps of electricity, especially if you touch it(!) Going gack in with a screwdriver instead of a finger shows arcs like crazy with the engine still. Wires to coil are clean and not appear to be touching ground far as I can tell. Coil and plug wire set are new. Bad coil? Bad ignition module or magnet on the distributor? Engine is rebuilt and everything is pretty fresh besides the electronic ignition module - stock unit on the '72. Coils are supposed to be pretty durable. Could be this one's a goner, but before I take it out, any other ideas? -Kenyon_______________________________________________________________________ _____________TV dinner still cooling?
