Alan, The "Kit" had parts to try to keep the miles per gallon, average miles per gallon,  and miles left function still working. For some reason it only worked for a short while and I personally have never had an 81 to 83 that those functions still worked, if it had been converted. I have pulled these parts off of cars that I have parted out and whenever I see them in junkyards I still pull them. I don't know if any of them work though. Bob
