   I don't believe you have mislead anyone.  You stated that your damage
occurred after just the kind of treatment over a long period of time
you said that if you avoided, you wouldn't have a problem.
    I run a 1951 model tractor pulling a 12 foot batwing mower in the
summer, and an 8 foot wide snowblower in the winter.  I use unleaded
gas, no additive, and I am not experiencing any performance problems
after 15 years.
    I think if you are doing a valve job, then replacing the valve seats
with hard seats is a good idea, since you are in there anyway.  But I
don't see any need to specifically tear the car apart just to install
hardened valve seats.
