Re: IML: 90 Imp headlights

Does it automatically open the headlamp doors when you do this? It's not much use as an optical horn if it only works when the headlamps are already on. (My Miata was this way from the factory... it would flash the high beams but not raise the pop-up headlamps, rendering the feature pretty useless. I rewired it to also pop the lights up when I pull on the stalk... There must be a way to make the later Imperials do this, too, though the doors might be too slow to be useful here?)

Just wondering out loud...

On my Imp and NYB, I always set the headlamps to high beam before I turn them off. That way, if I need the "optical horn" I can just throw the main headlamp switch on and they're already on high beam. (Obviously I do not have the automatic beam changer.)

BTW, the feature where the high beam lights come on when you pull that signal stalk toward you is called, by Chrysler, the "Optical Horn". I've seen other manufacturers call it a "Passing Signal".

Oh, and, there is always a way...

there is no way to light all 4 lamps on high, as the low beam bulbs
are sinlge filement only. they are not like the older sealed beam
bulbs that had 2 filements in the low beam.
i know if you hold the handle it will light all 4 , but not sure if the switch would overheat from all the draw on the electrical circuit, if all 4 would stay on all the time in high
