This is really
interesting. My car was built very early in the '65 production year (Sept.
8, 1964) so it would not have been a situation where it was late in the
production year and the '66 radio was installed in it at the factory.
Strange that my car would have the floor switch. Could that have been
installed (the floor switch only) later and connected to the existing radio or
would the radio have to be swapped out for a '66 model? For whatever
reason(s), my car ended up with the floor switch and the signal seeking
radio. Like other parts, is there a code stamped somewhere on the
radio that would indicate its build date and if it is a '66 model radio
rather than a '65?

In 65 the AM radio had a floor switch. The AM/FM did not have a floor
switch-this feature was not available on the AM/FM. Had them both!!

Are you sure the '65's did not have the floor
switch? The radio in my '65 has the floor mounted search tune and
it was working fine when my car went off to the restoration shop.
Of course, the radio in my car may not be original but certainly did
appear to have not ever been changed when I took the dash pad
off.
