Joe - I don't think you need the additional grommets. Just
make your your valve cover has a good flat surface for the gasket to seat
to. I have used the round end of a ball-peen hammer on the inside of a
valve cover to slightly dimple the hole to the outside on badly overtightened
covers. Overtightening is the main problem with leaking valve
covers. I think about 9, yes NINE, ft lbs is all you need. Good luch
