Re: BEWARE: IML: Ebay Imperials

Teresa,
There is definitely something fishy! My guess is that the Iowa car was up for auction before and didn't meet the reserve, I'm pretty sure I have seen it in the past. At that time the other seller harvested the pictures to sell another car. Whether it's a total scam or someone just trying to take the easy way out, they didn't count on the other seller re-listing the car! They should have at least blanked out the Iowa license plates if they wanted to have us believe it was in CA! It sounds like some sort of foreigner because they copied some of the text verbatim and the syntax of what they added was incorrect.

Hello all:

I was dutifully checking out the Imperials listed on Ebay today, and noticed something rather bothersome.  There are 18 Imperials for sale on Ebay at the present time of this email ranging from 1956 to 1981 in years.  However, my concern is with two 1964s that are for sale, one in Cedar Falls, IA, and one in Trion, GA.  I list the auctions below, please check this out.

Ebay #4507598296
1964 Imperial in Trion, GA

Ebay #4507876245
1964 Imperial in Cedar Falls, IA

If anyone on the list is bidding on these two cars...be careful.  In taking my inventory of what was for sale for Imperial passenger cars, I saw the same picture twice.  Normally, this means that there are two listings for the vehicle as it is what is called a "gallery" item, and it listed first, and then again later by the date that it ends.  However, that was not the case here.  If you look at these auctions, the car shown is identical in every detail, and even the photos are identical in both auctions.  However, the car in Georgia ends in one day plus, and the one in Iowa ends in four days or so.  Also, the one being sold from GA, says that the car is actually in Grass Valley, CA.

Is anyone on the list bidding on these/this car?   Any thoughts from the list on this...sounds mighty suspicious to me.
