My money would be on the crud in the fuel tank theory. Try
changing the inline fuel filter & see if that helps.Also, you may want to
dump the fuel that's in the fuel filter onto something such as a white paper
towel to see if a lot of rusty crud does come out of it. If yes, you may get
lucky with changing the filter frequently. If new filters keep becoming blocked,
removing the tank to be flushed would be in order.Also, be sure the vent tube at
the top of the fuel tank is not blocked & you have the correct non-vented
fuel cap.

At the risk of starting another carb war. The factory
carb on the 62 is a great little carb and even I can rebuild them.
The kit will cost about 20-30 bucks and the car will run great because it's
jetted and tuned for the car instead of a generic V8.
Describe what
the car does more clearly. Normally carb problems don't show up as
stalling after several miles. It could be fuel pump or stuck
needle and seat or just trash in the fuel tank.
