As in most "absolute rules", there are always exceptions. For instance, some
cars did specify automatic transmission fluid in the power steering, in fact
most of them did until sometime in the 60s. Your owner's manual or FSM
will tell you what fluid to use.
Also, type "F" fluid WILL induce firmer shifts in some transmissions (the
Borg-Warner, Warner Gear, and Ultramatic transmissions, for example), and so
if you have such a transmission that is about at the end of it's life due to
slippage on shifts, you may get a few more miles out of it by changing to
type "F" fluid.
I don't know about Mopar transmissions, but I'd guess that the same physics
may well apply there also. On the others, I have done it and it works. The
type "F" fluid has different friction modifier additives, and it makes the
clutch packs, bands and direct drive clutches engage with less slippage, at
the expense of more shock to the driveline.

Just to list a couple BAD IDEAS and myths
1.You can use transmission fluid as power steering fluid.
2.Type F transmission fluid in a Mopar automatic for "firmer shifts"
3.Form a gasket.... you don't need a gasket!{ya right}
4. Transmission fluid for a quick shine on your paint.
5. Bondo to fix rust holes.
6. Primer is good enough to last until you "get around to painting it"
7. You can weld a gas tank..just fill it with water. NOT!
Who has got their own? What bad advice have you been given and rolled your
eyes..or even
WORSE..tried.
