It might not be an issue with some cars, but the 1960-63 models (at the
least) have stainless spears that run down the side of the body
(moulding). When the limiter breaks, it is possible to over-open the
door, putting a huge kink into the trim piece. This is very frustrating!
Guess which trim pieces are tough to get and cost over $100? Try to avoid
letting the door over-open if your assembly breaks.
The cure that Lowell sells appears to be stout and well made. I saw one
and was impressed. They don't come painted, if I recall.
