I don't know about the tranny, but my guess is the radiator pressure is higher than the transmission fluid cooling pipe pressure. So, if there is a leak, it will be from the radiator to the oil and not backwards. So, the theory sounds correct. May be one of the transmission experts can help whether the shifting pattern is related to the water. D^2
