That is very correct.  That is one reason that I   like the hand brake for 
the emerency brake.  Much easier to control.  You can also do it with the 
foot brake.  Just be casreful not to get carried away.

That is safer, but even with a single pot, the car can be stopped with
the emergency brake, as long as the driver knows how to use it. If that
brake isn't functioning, the car should not be on the road.

The move to the dual MC was a safety move. At least now if you lost a
wheel cyclinder on one end or the other you can still stop. Not great
but you can slow down and stop.
