RE: IML: 66 Imperial IDLE Quality

Not sure if I should even mention this, but is it possible that the 'choke pull-off' unit, which kinda looks like a Dashpot, is either not there, or not connected or maybe just not working? My '66 has one and I remember (longer back than I want to admit) my the daily-driver Imperial, had a heck of a time running until I warmed it up a few minutes 'cause the 'choke pull-off' unit was not working at all! the diaphram was shot. When I replaced it (at the time you could just get one from the parts-store) the car started/idled/ran just great!

It runs great. The idle is sort of OK without the A/c on.
The car accelerates fine with or without the A/C on.
As far as i can see(in the FSM) there is some kind of DashPot attached to the carb in one picture, but i dont see it discussed anywhere. It also has no vacuum to it, however it appears that it could extend outward thus increasing the accelator and a resulting RPM increase. You might have a point.
Maybe in 67, they came out with an electric one. There were many changes that year.

Thanks

Marty
