Hi Jerry,
If you're smelling raw gas, there's a pretty good chance that it isn't the carb. I would be checking the fuel pump, lines and tank first. There should be obvious stains where the gas has leaked out if there isn't wet spots while running. The Thermoquad properly rebuilt and adjusted is a great carb for both economy and performance.

When it is parked in the garage, the smell of raw gas is overpowering to the point of putting it back  outside..I know that the Thermo-Quad isn't the greatest thing out there, so if it is the carb, what is the best carb out there..(that mere mortals can afford..)..any ideas?
