I agree 100% that the removal of the insulation from under the intake
manifold causes starting issues! I removed this unsightly insulation from
my 1966 Imperial convertible's 440 and the problems began. Not just starting
issues. The car would die after it reached a certain operating temperature and
wouldn't restart until it cooled down. I replaced the insulation (new, wrapped
in foil) and the problems ceased.
