RE: IML: 53 imperial

I have a green 53 four door, with the fully automatic trans. You are right 
about the chrome, especially the grille. However, the saving grace of the 53 
is that a lot of the trim is stainless, and there really isn't that much 
brightwork on the car. Also, the hood ornament, although pot metal, seems to 
have been plated better than the grille parts; they tend to hold up fairly 
well.

I found some pretty good "Imperial" side pieces on ebay, so on the car they 
went. They are not shown in the early official factory photos, and I believe 
only the early models came without them. One thing that fooled me was the 
"V" on the front and back. I never realized that they were sliightly 
different, until they were off the car!

I believe that the 51 through 53 grilles interchange. They surely look 
identical. Big $s to replate all the pieces.
