RE: IML: disc brakes - sorry if I hurt feelings on this

If I came on too strongly earlier, I apologize. I
wasn't trying to take anyone apart personally. I
think that I missed my mark based on the responses
that I've read and don't mind being dis-agreed with in
the least.

Again, I'm sorry if anyone's feelings got hurt -
that's certainly not what that was about.

Changing your car around is your choice - and there's
no reason not to do as you please - I do. If one
wants to take a position philosophically arguing their
ideas in a public forum, there should be room for
debate and disagreement as well.

I read the statement to be one of "why it's better" as
opposed to "how do I do this". The industry wouldn't
have switched over if discs weren't better - my disc
imps do stop better than my drum cars, and they're
even heavier, I think. I just don't think that discs
are universally better in all applications, especially
if not scientifically retrofitted with some sort of
engineering supervision over one's work or specialized
knowledge to ensure a proper system. This is safety
rather than aesthetics at work here for me.

A good person to ask might be Dietmar, who owns a
1960. I think that his company makes brake
conversions or systems over in europe.

I don't know if he's here reading these messages
though. He has a car that originally came with drums.
He might have put some thought into what would work
best on it, and seems to have the resources avaialble
to figure out a disc solution if he thought it
worthwhile... Dietmar?
