RE: IML: Imperials; Modifications and mailing lists

Please don't start a new list.  I fall on both sides.  In fact I bought my 
first Imperial (1983) to avoid modifying my 'cuda.  I started with a car 
that was already missing its original engine and fuel injection  I have a 
Magnum crate and I have the parts to do an 11.75" brake conversion.  I have 
since gotten a bone stock '82.  I don't think we should worry about 
offending anybody as long as we stick to Imperials and away from politics 
and personal attacks.

Just as many of you may tire of hearing our pipe dreams about efi and 
overdrives, I don't much care for the simple stock is better/Chrysler 
engineers know best posts.  I do appreciate that many of our members can 
give specific reasons why a modification is detrimental, difficult, or not 
cost effective.  There are several web sites that will make you think that 
an efi conversion is easy for a novice, but if you read Brad Hogg's 
Pro-Jection blog you realize the potential difficulties.  I believe Mikey 
Sutton has tried to overdrive a fleet of cars and can explain how it's not 
that easy and probably not cost effective.  It's good to get both sides of 
the coin.

Kenyon and others rightly suggest that a properly working stock system 
(brakes in particullar) is acceptable and a swap to discs is not a cure all 
for problems like rusty lines and swollen 40 year old flex hoses.  The fact 
is that most of us don't want to spend the money to perfect our stock system 
and THEN upgrade to discs.  I generally wait until there is a problem with a 
system and then I upgrade.  For instance the Magnum replaced my blown 
engine, a bigger truck radiator replaced the leaking stocker, and the big 
brakes will go on when my pads go.

Sorry for the book, but there's too much snow to go out.  I'm snowbound at 
my girlfriend's and she fell asleep!
