Actually the larger bore should make it spongier. I have something just a bit over 1" and it's too spongy. I am looking to get one with the 1" or perhaps less. This has been discussed often in the past. Bench bleeding the mc is necessary. Did you do that?
--Hi fellashere's my problem62' Plymouth Valiant modifiedreplaced the front drum brakes with a disc kit (The Ram man)I have added a line-loklong story short I have now (after many attempts at bleeding )isolated the front brake reservoir directly to a tee and the front brake lines onlystill no pressure and no leaks (this leads me to a faulty master cylinder this will be the 3r)i can pump the pedal about ten times to get some feel but when i release it and re-try the pedal goes all the way to the floorany thoughts / input appreciatedEnzo
