RE: instrument voltage regulator

I'm glad that link helped Tom, maybe Gary might want to add it to the tech page. A couple of those authors are old out of town friends of mine and I'm sure they won't mind. I didn't realize that the Darts used the same fuel gauge limiter until you and Bob just brought it up. My Dart is a 68 GTS and I'm pretty sure it uses the separate plug in limiter. However I do have my eye on a 64 and a 66 Dart and a 62 Lancer. if I can get my Custom 78 D-150 sold I may own an early A body soon.

Tom, That's an excellent article - I think the best of several I've
seen. Being blessed (or plagued) with the Instrument Voltage Regulator
inside the fuel gauge in my '63 & '64 Darts and having been an
electronics tech for most of my life I've looked at several.
Fortunately, my stock regulators have not failed yet and I've just been
cruising along thinking about a pre-emptive strike but not actually
doing the work. Maybe I shouldn't have said that - hope I'm not
tempting the voltage regulator spirits!

The point that I emphasize is that replacing the internal I.V.R. Is
simple, but a mistake can take out the rest of your instruments. Do you
know that your instruments have not been cremated already? Take your
time and ask questions. Read that article and heed the advice and ask
more questions, and remember the old saying "HASTE MAKES WASTE!"
