Re: Electronic control box

Hi Doug

I had an interesting experience just last week with my orange ECU. I had work done on the car and the ECU had been moved slightly (I have it on the inner fender beside an access hole). The next day I try to start the car and it is DEAD!

I did a search on this site and found several mentions about grounding the thing. I had even put O rings behind mine to isolate it from vibration. WRONG! I sanded the paint off the ECU frame, and ran a dedicated ground wire and it started right up! Grounding is a must!

Just another observation, I thought the installation instructions for this unit were terrible! Even outright wrong in some areas.

Hi All

Have heard rumblings about the "orange box" from other Mopar folks.  Most say to use the "Chrome box" instead.
I have the orange box on my '63 now.  Rummaging through my stash I found a generic replacement for "high temp" applications, and what I assume is a Chrome box.
Since I trust the common sense from this group, what are your opinions ?
383 auto, mild cam, four bbl and dual exhaust.
Here is the chrome box I found.

Thanks
