Yep, got that. Need to do the calculations with the actual Deck Heigth to see if we can get pistons with the proper compression ratio.
Interesting that this iron headed motor is running on 93 octane with what is about a 10.5 compression. That just goes against the rule of thumb that it should be no more than 9.5 to avoid detonation. Need to get hold of the
actual dimensions/values to throw
in to the compression calulator to verify this. Akron Don Gallimore

Thanks for the input.
I compiled a list and hope to get a step piston that gives me both a quench motor and runs on 93 octane. Talking to my engine guy on Monday. Let you know how it turns
out. Akron Don Gallimore From: JimJablonski <groovinjim@xxxxxxx> To: 1962to1965mopars@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Cc: Donald Gallimore <dongallimore@xxxxxxx> Sent: Saturday, April 5, 2014 8:16 AM Subject: Re: 440 Pistons and Rod Recomendations Apologies, Don, but if you
went with the ICON pistons I believe you would want P/N 836 (not 838). On Saturday, April 5,

Here's the piston / rod products I selected for my stroker build, for your consideration:
Pistons
- I used ICON Premium pistons, P/N 828 for my stroker build which uses the Chevy-style .990 pin - I purchased mine as a set from Eric at Muscle Motors, but they are widely
avaialble. Don't know your budget but they are $626 / set at Summit Racing, for example
Rods
- I used Racing Parts Maximum (RPM) Y7100 rods, with 7/16' ARP bolts, P/N LG3-7100H for my stroker build - Go here for their website to see other lengths: RPM - Again I went through Eric, but you can purchase directly from RPM (looks like yours should be around $400 / set)
I hope this was helpful. Let us know what you decided...
Thank you,
Jim

This will be a 6000 rpm motor, 500 HP at flywheel. 40 over. Have 452 open chamber heads and would like quench piston
with a pump gas 93 octane friendly motor. Right now looking at 440 Source as one supplier. Also considering JE SRP piston and Eagle rods. Chevy .990 piston pin
diameter is okay.
I'm facing a big bill and not sure the wife is gonna take it well. Will spend the money but this ain't no Top Fuel engine so want to be reasonable. Car will be a race car for the next few years but will be back on the street with this motor eventually. Akron Don Gallimore
