I would just get a stock regulator from any parts house. Look at the bottom and if it has resistors it is old stock, you want a solid state unit with nothing on the bottom.
Wiring is simple:
Ignition switch supplies 12 volts in
One output to the stock alternator for the field (if you have a two field alternator ground one of the field pins)
The regulator must have a very good ground.
That is all there is.
