 The Pertronix Ignitor lives inside the distributor and replaces the

 points.  If the Pertronix is on the other side of the wire from the

 coil and the spark is good going into the distributor, how do you know

 the Pertronix is good?

 

 

Its GOOD or you would have NO SPARK!! 

 

The pertronix unit, like points, tells the coil to when to spark.  The coil wire takes the spark to the center of the cap   The the rotor directs the spark were to go in the cap.  The wires take the spark from the cap to the plugs.
