I know a lot of you have had trouble with the Pertronix Ignitor. Now so have I, I think. In my 63 Polara 500 with a 383, a Pertronix Ignitor was installed by a previous owner. I'm getting a strong spark from the coil to the distributor, but nothing to the plugs, so I'm ready to blame the Pertronix. Any recommendations on replacing it? My first inclination would be get a direct replacement and maybe a spare, unless there are better options. I looked on Summit and had a little trouble figuring out which Ignitor P/N is right for the old 383. Also, there's Ignitor II and Ignitor III. Of course these cost more. Is there any advantage? Should I upgrade the coil as well as per their recommendation? As always, thanks for any advice. - Jim Jim Altemose, Long Island, NY '63 Polara 500 (Max Wedge) '63 Polara 500 (383) '65 Belvedere I (Street Wedge) '71 Bronco -- -- -- Please address private email -- email of interest to only one person -- directly to that person.
