Sometimes that works, so the answer is yes, but if the resistor wire is broken (looks like a big coiled up spring) or the tab for it is broken off there is not much you can do about it other than getting a new one. I've not seen one that has screws that open up in a very long time so I doubt you will be able to open it up to get inside it. If you are really bored you can remove the rivits, open it up, check all the contacts, clean it, lube it and rivit it back together again.....or spend the $10-20 to get a new one. But you will still have to take it out of the dash to try to clean it anyway.--On Mon, Dec 10, 2012 at 4:41 AM, Bill Paxton <wmp4@xxxxxxxxxxxx> wrote:Can you use some electrical contact cleaner on these?

Sounds like you need a new switch. Readily available at Advance Auto, O’Reilly’s, Rock Auto, etc (if it takes the same switch as my 64. I’m betting it does)

I agree about all the bulbs being out. The fuse looks fine. Also, apparently there are not 8 dash lights, but 4 dash lights, 2 turn signals, 1 high-beam indicator, and one oil pressure light. Of all these bulbs, only the right turn signal bulb is working. Also, when I turn the headlight switch all the way to the left, I would expect the interior light to come on. It does not, but does when the door is open.

I've messed with a lot of dashes for a '65 Belvdere and there were always a majority of good bulbs there. Your's could be the exception but... Check the fuse. Then the wiring.

Subject: 65 Coronet dash light locations
The dash lights have not functioned on my 65 Coronet since I bought it. Before I start removing the instrument panel I thought I'd have a look at the bulb(s). My service manual says they can be accessed from under the dash and they are in sockets that can be removed. For the life of me I cannot find these. Recent abdominal surgery has not helped either. How many bulbs are there and where are they located?
