Dennis, Thanks for your input. Very good artical but maybe a little more than I need. The Service manual for 64 Dodge says The limiter switches from 12+ volts to about half that. The intention is to "average " out the voltage to the guages.. That means some of the time, the guages recieve full voltage. The manual says , in testing the output of the limiter should be from 5 volts to a maximum of 9 volts. . We felt that a constant 8 volts would be good. Now I am not sure he used a common resister, I do know we had a constant input of 13 volts and a constant output of 8.4 volts. . In use, I am a little concerned about the heat generated by whatever he used to absorb the resistance.
