Re: Wheelbase/length for '64 Plymouth & Dodge

Plymouth and Dodge sedans used the same roof and doors.  If you look
at the side view of the Plymouth and Dodge sedans, you can see the
extra space between the rear doors and the wheel opening on the Dodge
compared to the Plymouth.  And that was how Chrysler handled the extra
length in wheelbase on the outside in 1963-64.

Chrysler did the same with the Dodge and Chrysler C bodies in 1965-68
(Plymouth used a different roof line) and then Plymouth and Dodge C
bodies in 1969-73 (this time Chrysler used a different roof line and
rear doors).

Chrysler initially used the Dodge floor for the wagons as it was
midway between the Plymouth and Chrysler.   Using the Plymouth floor
would have made for a very short Chrysler wagon.  In 1957-61, the 118"
and 122" wheelbase cars used the same length front clip while the 126"
wheelbase models used a 4" longer front clip.  Did the same from
1965-73, with the stub frame of the Fury, Polara/Monaco and Chrysler
being the same.   Thus the wagons had the same wheelbase length, while
the sedan/hardtop models were different.  The 1967-73 C body Imperials
used the Chrysler floor with a 3" longer front clip.  No Imperial
wagons, though, but if you did you would have a 125" wheelbase.
