Re: New Member Andrew's 440 engine build

Generally, people either love or hate '62's.  Ain't much in-between there.

When I take mine out everyone loves it and I haven't heard anyone call it ugly.  Lots of people ask what it is.  Some of them know.  The older ones.

I thought '62 Mopars were a big improvement over the '60 and 61's.  Looks wise and power wise.

Hi, Andrew (or Joe).  I built a low-compression, high horsepower 440.  It should get you into the 11's without too much trouble.  You can build the engine for a heck of a lot less that I put in mine.  Here's some pics of my car.  I took it out last night and it just flies!  You have to be careful or it will get away from you.  You also better already have a plan thought out that no matter what goes wrong, you have a counter-move already thought up and you put it to use instantly.  Because that's all the time you will have to think and react.

As to calling you Andrew, the To: box says Joesph Lemire.  The introduction line says your name is  Andrew Barge.  Maybe Joe was trying to send Andrew a welcome.  Whatever the case may be, I have some tips for you.  First you have to figure out how much you want to spend, then double that amount.  No doubt you have worked with cars before and isn't that how it always goes?

Let me know if would like an ideas I used.  Its nice to put 87 octane gas in your ride and the cam sounds rough as hell on the bottom but really makes a lot of torque down low.  Cranking pressure of my engine is only 125 lbs.  The car runs like a rocket.

I can't see anything ugly here.  I see a '62 Dart that just reeks attituide.   Opening the hood helps confirm that fact.
