I have about 15 gallons of mineral spirits in my parts washer. I scrape off as much grease as I can befor going to the parts washer. The MS has been in there for a few years with no problems...........................MO

Dennis,I bought an inexpensive 20 gallon parts tank 2 years ago and used a water based solvent. I don't recommend it. That solvent promoted corrosion in the tank pump, and it didn't work very well, either. I finally drained it all out, and for now the tank is empty. Having the tank is nice and convenient, though. I just need to decide on what to put in it that will work better. I've been using mineral spirits in the mean time - just a jug in small amounts - not in the parts tank. I don't know that I want the tank sitting full of mineral spirits when not in use.

To: 1962to1965mopars@xxxxxxxxxx Date: Monday, April 11, 2011, 4:31 PM Each time I get into a project I start thinking about having a parts cleaning tank. I see that some people use solvent based cleaners and others use water based cleaners. I would appreciate any comments on tanks to consider and cleaning agents to consider. I really like the idea of a water based solution however I have no idea how well it works and problems I may have with it. I know the solvent based cleaners will work great but I am concerned about disposal.
