Excellent info Dave. One more question for everyone. What type of insulation is it that goes between the top of the bows and inside roof? I would guess it covers nearly the whole roof area. I will save my question for sail panels till latter :-) The way my car was gutted in the headloner, I am lucky to have the bows and dawtooth side brackets, Thanks all............MO.

Hi Steve,Regarding your two questions for the headliner bows, yes, the bows were touching the insulation pad to the inside of the roof helping to hold the pad in place. As to the mounting location of the last rear-most bow, this bow should have a unique clip at each end. It is metal and rolled to a tubular shape and bent midway to nearly 90 degree with a black oxide finish. The bow rod slips into the open end while the other (90) end is bent rounded to close. This end fits into a (3/8”?) hole (the only hole) located in the 16” long recessed area of the ‘C’ pillar (roof side frame) that runs at an angle following the rear quarter window opening. Then of coarse the two spring wires attach to the bow and above the rear window frame. This time I’m gonna take a picture of this arrangement before I disassemble it again!
All set? Dave B

Yes 5 bows and the sawtooth blades are on the sides. I find the pockets you tell about, and altho not numbered , it was easy to determine which bows go where. QUESTIONS: should the tops of the bows touch the inside of the roof? How does the rearmost bow attach to the sides? No clips or pockets there onmine. Whats left of the two little springs above the rear window are there.Thanks...........................MO {Steve Mick} http://stevemick.shutterfly.com/pictures#Part%202----- Original Message ----- From: "David Bailey" <bb64d440@xxxxxxxxxxx>To: <1962to1965mopars@xxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Tuesday, October 26, 2010 12:43 PM Subject: RE: headliner bows. Steve, You said the bows were in the trunk (5?). Hope they ‘re labeled front torear. What about the saw tooth plates – one each side – might these still bemounted to the inside roof framing or were these removed along with thebows? These are what hold the bows in position. You might have noticed, four teardrop shaped indents in the sub roof frame symmetrically along each side.Four of the bows rest in these indents and the saw tooth plates cover the bows in the indents thus holding them in place. The saw tooth plates aremounted with a sheet metal screw at the A pillar and five twist lock clips.Does this help? I don’t have pics but if you need some, I’ll see what I can do. Hope you’re not in too big of a hurry.
