I have a 63 Polara with a 383/ 4spd and run an Accel dual point dist w/o vac 
adv.        Always starts and runs fine.          I put in a new set of 
points this year after 30 k plus miles just because.        Why invite

Butch is right in my opinion. I have dual points, While at times can be a 
hassle
base decision on miles per year or in my case 5 years. Type of fuel and 
driving
along with what rpm shifts. If maintenance isn't an issue or not swinging 
high
rpms for time slips dual points seem to work well.


If a resto or resto-mod and don't want exposed wiring then dual points work
fine. Otherwise ease with operation on long drives and no points to deal 
with is
better for your mind, then it is an easy decision.

Actually Tom..... I'm thinking strongly about putting a dual point stock
distributor in my 64 383 to replace the single point set up, rather than an
electronic set up. I drove one of these cars from 64-68 with dual points and 
had
no issues with it. The miles I drive now, I'll probably never even re-adjust 
the

Reading all the threads over the last month on pertronix setup,
pertronix vs Mopar Electronic Ignition and the other pertronix threads
over the last little while.

Do you Run Mopar Electronic, Pertronix or Points??

I'm just curious how many on the list still run points like I do? Am I
the last holdout with the old prestolite dual point setup? I understand
why the conversion, hotter spark, no adjustment, etc. But I've only had
to adjust points twice since we pulled the dart out of the barn in 2001.
