Re: Poly Stroker project

I am running a trans cooler/with fan. I mounted it under the car between the fuel tank and rear bumper, drivers side. Keeps my trans temp between 190-200. To be honest, I did not see much difference in engine water temp by getting trans fluid out of the radiator. Trans fluid is very easy to cool as compared to water. I have a trans temp gauge, and after the car has been shut off 10 minutes the trans temp drops drastically.

My alum rad has the trans cooler but I don't use it in order to help
keep the rad cooler. I have a big B&M unit right behind the grill and on
the driver side. I used flex lines to attach mine too. I know you have
an issue with where to put the cooler due to the fan set-up. It oughta
work. My rad is ample as it is almost too cold when driving. BUT I have
an airflow problem without a shroud and/or bigger fan. If I can build a
shroud I will. Otherwise i may search for an electric fan combo that
will replace my flex-fan and encapsulate the radiator for better airflow
exchange.

Rich,

The cross flow radiator does not have an internal tranny cooler. It was
to have gone in front but after negotiations with the radiator it moved
to the back. The tranny lines are flexable with a fabric cover to reduce

heat. My '63 tranny still uses an external filter so that was relocated
up front near the radiator away from the headers catching some air to
reduce heat. I used the largest practical cooler to reduce tranny fluid
heat. Now at the same time keeping the tranny fluid out of the radiator
I hope to reduce my radiator's heat. We'll try our best and go from
there.

interesting that you put the trans cooler inside the engine bay. I guess
