RE: unlocking pistons?

Well then…might it be possible that the shop where you had this work done may well have returned more plugs (extra) than what was actually removed from your block? Give them a call and ask if this is possible.
Also had you checked all around the block for any oil passages that might require plugs, i.e. oil pressure sender, area around or the oil pump itself etc.?
Also, perhaps if all else fails, you could perform a kind-of drip / leak test. It will be messy but maybe you can find something out this way. What I’m proposing is just a thought or idea. It would be up to you to try it and be safe about it.
That would be to place the block somewhat flat and level or ideally on an engine stand with a large drip pan or plastic drop tarp under it.
Slowly and carefully pour a cup or so at a time of Kerosene through a small funnel into the highest water passage opening. Inspect all around the block for dripping and plug the openings as you find them. Continue adding small amounts and re-checking each time until the block is full as can be. I don’t think the liquid capacity should be muck more than a couple quarts.
If you don’t find anything for the coolant passages, then the plugs might be for the oil passages. Just keep in mind that Kerosene has very good ‘creeping’ ability so try not to be too messy and wipe or spray any area with degreaser to re-dry it.
