Re: Questions on priming

I don't quite know what I would do without all of you guys! Thank you... Pulled the oil pump, put some Vaseline around, put her back together and was pulling Very nice PSI. Around 50-60. Thanks guys for all of your help! I'm sure there will be more questions on the way in the future!!

I've used the vasoline trick too. No obstructions in the screen or
pipe ? Pickup is sitting at the right depth ?

When I originally primed my BB I discovered I had the drill going the wrong way. When I got it right it didn't take long for the drill to really start to labor and I saw oil coming up through the rocker arms. If not,I'd follow
the great advice you're getting here. Good luck!

If there is still no pressure indicated by the other oil
pressure gauge, then do the pack-oil-pump-with-vaseline
trick Steve mentioned.

Thanks,

Yes, this is the engines first prime since it's
rebuild. I pulled the
oil pan, everything looks perfect...checked everything
over and all
looks good. I will try another oil pressure gauge
tomorrow. That's
the last thing I can try... Unless there are other
suggestions....
She's clean...

Is this a new engine 1st prime?

Did you try another oil pressure gauge?

What would the culprits be if I'm not getting
any oil pressure? What
should I check? Any ideas would be
helpful... Thanks all
