Years ago I worked for a recapper for a short time between jobs and we did a lot of OTR truck tires and used a hard compound rubber tread for longevity. We also had a local guy that requested a soft compound tread because he needed the traction. Never really knew what he needed them for other than someone thought he moved houses or something like that but we did a special run every so often using the tread set aside for that contract, and you could leave an imprint in the rubber unlike the usual tread we used. Remember one of the guys hired on about the same time as me accidently used the soft tread on a run of OTR cores and was gone shortly their after! Oh yeah the finish size on them is,,,,,,, 9 X 27 In a message dated 6/7/2009 10:35:01 A.M. Central Daylight Time, zephyr9900@xxxxxxxxxxx writes: They appear to be recaps using truck tread. The tread comes in big rolls & different widths and can be installed on any core. If you get good traction it really doesn't mater were the tread comes from. (: Do they work well? Those cheater slicks remind me of my old Malloney cheater slicks that I had on my first '64 Dodge when it was new. I definitely had traction with them but they were very heavy too.
