Re: Speedo lube

Upon further looking there is a hole with a wick in it. I had to scrape out the old dirt to get to it. I'll try the oil in it. Guess they did put it in the cheaper Plymouths. Dave O ----- Original Message ----- From: "Dan McCormack" <mcwheels@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx>

I haven't actually looked at the back of the speedo on my 63 Fury but there was a wick on the back of my 66 Charger's speedo so I assume your 64 should have one. It should be on the back of the housing where the cable goes in to be able to oil the brass bushing. It may just be a small hole on the top of the housing but there's cotton in there. I used a light machine oil like 3 in 1.

I don't know how you should oil your speedo, but I've seen those factory
oiling wicks, but only on much older cars.

I remember that someone said there was a "wick" on the speedo to lube it
about every 40years. I have my speedo on the table and don't see any
wick or lube point. I know oiling a watch isn't a good thing. I did it
once and it looked like a helicopter! What should I use and where? I
have a new cable already and it bounced a lot before and a very little
now. Suggestions?
