65 sport fury brake booster shaft

Sorry to bother you all.  My 65 c body big fury has discs and that's  
is good news since I drive the car here in los angeles almost  
everyday.  It is a moving museum.  My problem is somewhere along the  
line maybe my brake pedal was switched to an older or a manuel  
pedal...so I do not have enough shaft length on the booster.  I have  
2,5 inches of pedal at this point.  If I cut the eye off the shaft at  
the pedal end how do I hook up a coupler or is that even the wrong  
approach?  Im afraid I may have to rebuild the booster AGAIN w a  
longer shaft if there is no solution unless the 2.5 inches is enough.
