I do not know all the anwsers by a long ways, but will put in a few,,,,all  
torque convertors are stall convertors, the usual use of a stall convertor is 
to  get the engine combo that you have into it's power range.  One interesting  
thing that you will learn is that the same convertor installed on two 
different  engines, say one being a small block, and the other a big block will stall 
at  different rpm.  Just is just a starter on convertors, am sure that others 
 will chime in with more.
