I believe that Ted is talking about the front pump in the trans and he is right. The splines have to be lined up right. Never thought about it until I read his post. All tho I have never had one with broken splines I can see how it would happen. Sometimes when installing the torque converter, it is a real job to get the splines lined up so the converter enters completly. If they force it then splines may get broken. Guess I said the same thing Ted just said. Should read to whole post. . I have had to stand the trans on end sometimes in order to install the converter. ---- Ted Albin <ted_albin@xxxxxxxxx> wrote: > ${top_text_ad} > trans. theres two gaps in the torque converter input and two teeth on the pump gear that need to be aligned and inserted properly on installation. they can get broke off or cracked upon installation if not aligned properly. ----- Original Message ---- From: neal zimmerman <neal.zimmerman@xxxxxxxxx> To: 1962to1965mopars@xxxxxxxxxx Sent: Saturday, October 11, 2008 6:48:59 AM Subject: Re: tranny hum and surge which oill pump ted?? the engine or the trans?? ---- Please address private mail -- mail of interest to only one person -- directly to that person.
