I second Ron's opinion, they really flatten out when you rev them up, therefore they scoop less air at high rpms using up less horsepower than the stock fixed fan. Some believe it is still more desirable to have a fan clutch instead, though. And at higher rpm's the car is moving fast enough that the rad has enough air over it so the flex fan can flatten out and the car wont run hot but makes more hp.
