Two years ago there was a local guy selling a 64 Chrysler Newport 4 dr sedan with a 361 and a factory 3 speed stick on the floor. I think the deal was that since 64 Chryslers were push button automatics and it was so rare to have a 3 speed stick in a Chrysler that Mopar never made a steering column with a shifter on it for Chryslers. It did have what appeared to be the same hump in the floor that a 4 speed would have. I remember thinking how easy it would be to put a 440 and 4 speed in this car and make a real sleeper out of it. I think the same 3 speed or 4 speed tranny will fit with a /6, small block or big block as long as you have the right bell housing for the motor.
