I believe to be the truth. ALL of the Plymouth 3 sp. floor shft cars had a "on the tree" steering column...the shifter was a "Hurst" unit...(had a name like Dragmaster or something like that)...it had a pin that could be pulled and the shift from 1 to 2 was "spring assisted" to avoid confrontation with reverse. To get into reverse you had to pull against the spring which was pretty stout. The receiver for the column shifter was simply rotated to the rear ... I've seen the after market kit's on E-bay...still in the original hurst box with mopar parts stickers...I'm sure the same unit was used on all of mopar's creations...started with the 300 letter cars I believe.
