Neal,
For what it's worth, I installed my 273/904 in my 65 Dart together. 
Blankets, pads along the engine compartment, using an engine hoist with the 
chain forward so the trans tail dips, lifting the trans tail over the 
radiator yoke, went in fairly well, no scars on the new paint job.  Good 
luck.
