Brian,

As Don said, the TC will just pull straight out. When you install it
though, you have to put the TC over the input shaft and push it in
WHILE ROTATING the TC (clockwise as you face the front of the trans I
think). The TC will "drop in" in 2 steps. You'll be able to tell
because it'll be "way in there". You have to make sure it's seated and
gone in both steps or the TC will be sticking out of the trans too far
and you'll be wondering why you can't get the bell housing to bolt up
to the engine. Force it and you'll push the input shaft seal in and
damage the trans. When the TC is fully seated, you'll actually have to
pull it out of the trans ~3/8" to bolt up to the flex plate once you
get the bell housing and block mated and bolted up.

It's been a while since I've done a trans swap, but I've done so many
on my back in my driveway it kind of becomes second nature! If anyone
has any tips to add, please feel free.
