Be sure to pour as much oil as it will hold (the convertor). when you slide it in the transmission.

room under the car.  Here's a short, ordered list of activities:

1. Put the car as high as safety allows
2. Remove driveshaft
3. Drain fluid from tranny
4. Remove park/shift cable
5. Remove trans cooler lines
6. Remove neutral safety switch wire
7. Remove little cover to expose thrust plate thingie
8. Remove the 4 bolts holding the thrust plate to TC
  ( friend suggested marking the position of plate
    relative to TC )
9. Drain TC ( do this now or later? )
10. Support engine somehow
11. Use floor jack to support tranny
12. Remove rear tranny mount
13. Remove trans fluid dipstick
14.Remove starter
15.Remove bell housing bolts
16.Carefully lower the tranny and move
  it back enough to expose TC

Here is where I have to stop, as I'm not sure how the TC comes off.
